VENUE POLICIES
Alcohol Policy
At Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island, we want every celebration to be safe, enjoyable, and memorable. Alcohol is permitted at approved private events under the following guidelines:
- BYOB is permitted when the event host obtains event liability insurance that includes alcohol coverage. Proof of insurance must be submitted no later than 14 days prior to the event. We commonly accept policies through Event Helper or WedSafe.
- Hosts may also choose to have alcohol served by a licensed and insured bartender or catering company.
- If proof of the required insurance is not received by the deadline, alcohol will not be permitted at the event unless otherwise approved in writing by Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island.
- The event host is responsible for ensuring that all guests comply with Rhode Island laws regarding alcohol consumption. No alcohol may be served to or consumed by anyone under the age of 21.
- Self-service alcohol (BYOB) is permitted only when the required event liability insurance is in place.
- Excessive intoxication, disorderly conduct, illegal drug use, or any activity that endangers guests, staff, or property will not be tolerated and may result in alcohol service being discontinued or the event being ended without refund.
- Alcohol service must conclude at the time specified in the rental agreement.
- Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island reserves the right to deny or discontinue alcohol service if these policies are violated or if safety concerns arise.

Early Access & Day-Before Setup
Your rental includes designated setup time on the day of your event. This allows our team to prepare the chapel while ensuring each event receives the attention and care it deserves.
If you would like access to the chapel the day before your event for decorating or setup, additional access may be available based on chapel availability and must be scheduled and approved in advance.
A day-before setup fee of $50 per hour will apply for any additional access outside of your scheduled event rental period.
Please note that day-before access is not guaranteed and may not be available if the chapel is reserved for another event, maintenance, or other scheduled activities.
We recommend planning your decorating timeline within your scheduled rental period whenever possible.
Decorations Policy
We love helping couples and guests personalize Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island for their special event. Decorations are welcome as long as they do not damage the chapel, grounds, or historic features of the property.
- All decorations must be approved by Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island prior to the event.
- Nothing may be nailed, screwed, stapled, taped, or attached to walls, doors, windows, or historic surfaces in a way that may cause damage.
- Decorations involving open flames, candles, glitter, confetti, or items that create excessive cleanup must receive prior approval.
- Rice, birdseed, confetti, and similar items are not permitted on the property due to cleanup and environmental concerns.
- The use of décor, furniture, or rental items must not block walkways, exits, or accessibility areas.
- The event host is responsible for ensuring all decorations are removed at the conclusion of the rental period unless otherwise arranged with Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island.
Clean-Up Policy
Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island provides a beautiful space for your celebration, and we ask that all guests and vendors help us maintain the property for future events.
- The event host is responsible for removing all personal belongings, decorations, gifts, food items, and rental items at the conclusion of the event unless other arrangements have been made.
- All decorations must be removed within the scheduled rental period.
- Trash and recycling must be placed in designated areas provided by the chapel.
- Any excessive cleaning, damage, or removal of items left behind may result in additional fees.
- Vendors and outside services are responsible for cleaning up any materials, equipment, or items they bring onto the property.
- The chapel must be returned to the same general condition in which it was found.

Photography Timeline Policy
At Chapel by the Sea Rhode Island, we want every couple to have the opportunity to capture beautiful memories of their special day. We encourage couples to select a rental package that provides enough time for their desired photography needs.
Please keep in mind that wedding photography requires time for more than just the ceremony. Couples should consider time needed for:
- Getting ready and detail photos (if included in your package)
- First looks (if desired)
- Family and bridal party portraits
- Couple portraits around the chapel grounds
- Any additional creative photography requests
Photography must take place within the scheduled rental time included with your selected package. Additional time may not always be available on the day of the event, so we recommend planning your timeline carefully with your photographer before your wedding day.
